On a long enough timescale, the future looks a lot like the past. Twenty-two year old Archer Clark barely scrapes by in the coal district of Tempus, living amidst smoke, grime, and feudal poverty. With his brother’s mysterious disappearance, a new opportunity presents itself for the young man, one that dwarfs what he considers himself capable of. Archer goes from a destitute and reviled smog to the haven’s newest hero overnight. The media channels want interviews. His newly assigned personal attendant wants him to fall in love with her.
And Archer just wants to live up to expectations in a world where only a single wall stands between the life and death of humanity.

This is a good start to what I hope is the start to a new series. I have read a lot of this type of book lately (mans last island) and this holds promise. It is not the same as the windrunner series, good nevertheless
Unlike another reviewer, I bought this after reading the disclaimer knowing very well what I was getting into. Personally I found the story intriguing and I am certainly looking forward to book 2!
Little bit of grammar to correct but a good idea for a continuous series. Fairly good character development, but simplistic for the narrative
All the relationships in this book are "me Tarzan you Jane" even the fiancée of his dead brother only needs about 2 paragraphs of foreplay before they sleep together.
Frankly, when I bought this book I was a bit concerned it was sci fi litrpg. It's not litrpg, but it awesome even so. I'm looking forward to book 2. Mr Hughes, may your characters guide you and help you avoid writer's block. If it helps try to think about their personalities to give your writing a decent flow to it.
Good book ,good action and a lot of sex.Great read. Ready for another book . Archer was kinda lucky , he will need more training
